Kosovo Assembly approves resolution on Thaci’s release (media)

Kosovo Assembly today approved a six-point Resolution through which it called for the immediate release of the Kosovo Police regional director, Nehat Thaci, who was arrested several days ago by Serbian authorities. The Resolution also stresses that any communication of the Kosovo government for the arrest of Mr. Thaci should be made through the Office of the EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini. Kosovo government also informs the EU that Serbia’s such actions are jeopardizing the improvement of relations as well as dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.  Through this Resolution, Kosovo Assembly also calls on EULEX mission to take a stance on this case, and also seeks its direct engagement as a mission with special competencies. The last point of the Resolution calls for the INTERPOL to accept Kosovo Police as member of this organization and also insists that political arrest warrants issued by Serbia to be removed from INTERPOL’s system.

Meanwhile another resolution proposed by the opposition parties according to which Kosovo would also suspend talks with Serbia until Thaci’s release was rejected by the ruling-coalition MPs.
