EU to MPs: Do not contest court decisions, much less question them (kallxo.com)

The Office of the European Union in Pristina has requested from the Kosovo Assembly MPs to restrain from calls which put into question the decisions of the courts.

“In democracy, the parliament is the place for political debate on the key matters in interest of people. This debate however should always be made by respecting fully the line between the government from judiciary, executive and legislation, as ground of democracy. The elected officials and public authorities, including MPs, should however restrain from calls that question the decisions of the court, because implementation of the rule of law requires unconditional respect of the court decisions and division of powers,” is written in a statement of the EU Office.

This appeal came on the day when Kosovo Assembly MPs are expected to gather for a debate, initiated by the MPs mainly from the governing party, PDK, to endorse a resolution against the decision of the court which confirms sentencing of some former KLA members, including an Ambassador, an MP an a mayor.
