Mogherini: Situation in Balkans tensed, needs EU support (Lajmi.net)
The European Union High Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security, Frederica Mogherini said today that the situation in Western Balkans is tensed, and it requires a strong and reliable EU support.
She told the journalists on the verge of the meeting of the Foreign Policy and Defense Ministers that she would report to the Ministers about her visit to Western Balkans that “the situation there is facing challenges in the internal, regional and global plan.”
She stressed that the region has the ability and strength within itself to retain and that she expects today, from the ministers and the EU’s leaders as well to give a clear and strong determination towards the Western Balkans regarding convincing perspectives for a European integration. She informed that Western Balkans will be one of the most important issues of today’s discussions.
The Council of Europe is expected to endorse today’s conclusions, which will be the grounds for a report of the leaders of 28 countries, to be endorsed on Western Balkans during the 9 and 10 March in Brussels.
