Kosovo Islamic Union reacts on the burning of ISIS flag (Gazeta Blic)
Kosovo Islamic Union (KIU), reacted today against the action of around 20 young members of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) who set on fire the flag of the Islamic State, on Monday in Pristina, joining in this manner the world initiative #Burn ISIS Flag Challenge. The KIU stresses in a press release that Monday’s act of burning the flag which carried the Muslim prayer is an unaccepted act and it is in contradiction with Albanian tradition of tolerance and understanding. “It is true that the flag is being used unjustly and it is being misused by ISIS, a terrorist organization which allegedly acts on behalf of Muslims, however this does not give the right to anyone to desecrate Islamic symbols or symbols of any other religion.”
“We have stated and explained in time that ISIS does not act in accordance with Islamic lessons and it is not elected or mandated by Muslims to represent them. We are convinced that their actions will soon receive the adequate response by the population of Iraq and Syria in cooperation with the democratic world,” says this press release further.
