UNDP presents Human Development Report (Koha Ditore)
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) presented yesterday in Pristina two reports: Making the Labour Market Work for Women and Youth and Risk-Proofing the Western Balkans: Empowering People to Prevent Disasters. The report on the labour market for women and youth highlights that the widespread unemployment and passivity leaves an ample amount of human potential unused, misused or underused. The report states that 57% of youth aged between 15 and 24 are unemployed while the participation of women in the labour market is the lowest in the region with 82% being either unemployed or not seeking employment. The second, interregional report, presented yesterday noted that the Western Balkans can expect in the coming eighty-five years increase on the frequency, unpredictability and intensity of flooding, drought, heat waves and wildfires. As a result, the report states that acting pre-emptively to reduce risks at the community level is increasingly being recognised as a single most efficient and cost-effective way to reduce disaster risk and prevent losses from hazards in the future.
