Vucic urged religious leaders to protect SOC shrines in Kosovo (Tanjug, B92)
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic urged religious leaders to protect Serbian Orthodox Church monasteries and churches in Kosovo that are under constant threats by those who do not believe in civilization and cultural heritage, Tanjug news agency reported.
Vucic made these remarks while addressing participants of the 4th Congress of World Leaders and Traditional Religions in Astana, Kazakhstan. Vucic noted that the Balkans, region where Serbia is located, is a crossroad of many different religions.
Vucic emphasized that peace and security are the most common values of all peoples in the world and that messages of peace should be a foundation of the international order. He also added, the religion is often misused for some other purposes, and sometimes as an excuse for geopolitical goals.
According to him, the faith pledges for peace and respect, and that is why he proposed the main message from this gathering should be that the peace is a foundation of the international order.
By taking part in this gathering Vucic completed his two-day visit to Kazakhstan, Tanjug reported.
