Protest of Albanians in Djakovica prevented the Serbs from visiting the city on Christmas (RTS, Tanjug)
The displaced Serbs from Djakovica, due to the protests of the Albanians, did not go to the Church in their native city, reported Radio television of Serbia.
In Djakovica, Albanians organized a protest in order to prevent the displaced Serbs from coming and visiting the Church during Christmas. The organizers of the protest said that they protested because among people, who were supposed to come and visit the Church, were allegedly war crimes suspects, portal in Albanian Indeksonline reported.
President of the Association of Djakovica citizens Djokica Stanojevic said that the Albanian protest was only "one of the forms of intimidation of the Serbian people by which their last right to visit the Church on the biggest Orthodox holiday was abolished.''
Stanojevic told Tanjug that on Sunday was held a multi-hour protest in front of the church - a monastery where the remaining three nuns in Djakovica live.
"Before the eyes of a democratic Europe and representatives of Western embassies, they do not allow us to celebrate Christmas in the city in which we were born," Stanojevic said.
He reminded that and this year, the Association on time announced plans for visiting Djakovica to the institutions in Kosovo, and that this has caused the reaction of the Albanians, RTS reported.
