Djuric urges Serbs to participate in Kosovo elections (KoSSev)

„I urge all our citizens, all our compatriots in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, in the municipalities of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Leposavic, to go to the polls and to vote for Srpska Lista. I urge them to actively contribute to preserving the unity with the state of Serbia, to stay organically connected with the institutions of our state and not to allow Albanian politicians – who have come up with a corrupt, yet a rather transparent plan, on how to get rid of Serb control in the four Serb-majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo – to carry out this plan,“ the Head of the Kosovo Office, Marko Djuric sent a message today to citizens in the north of Kosovo regarding the upcoming extraordinary local elections on Sunday.

Srpska Lista is the only Kosovo Serb party to register for the upcoming elections, and its candidates include the former mayors of these four municipalities, with the exception of the former mayor of Zubin Potok, Stevan Vulovic, who said that he removed the „burden of shame“ by resigning. Srpska Lista’s current candidate for the mayor of this municipality is his brother Srdjan Vulovic.

We publish the rest of Djuric’s statement below:

„We see that their idea is to divide us, to cause discord among us, to use some people among Serbs in order to promote their control and establish their control in the Serb-majority municipalities. They even called some of them. Some Serbs have even urged people to vote for an Albanian candidate for the mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica, although we know that this is an environment with a Serb majority and obviously they do not hesitate from any steps or actions just to take control of the four Serb-majority municipalities. That’s why I repeat this again.

Elections on May 19th are not classic elections between political parties for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, but these elections are centered on the preservation of the Serbian character of four municipalities with a Serb majority. Therefore, I urge and appeal to all our fellow citizens to take these Sunday’s elections seriously.

Everybody in Pristina, all Albanians hope that we will not respond. They hope to show that they are progressing both in number and power in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and that is why it is very important that we show our strength and unity and show them that we will,at anytime and anyplace, fight so that these municipalities remain ours -as they are Serbian. On May 19th, we will all show that it is so and that we are very united. We can have a thousand and one political differences in the territory of central Serbia.

Here in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija we have to be and will be as one, and we will show the Albanians that they will not defeat us with our own laziness and our own unwillingness to do the least that we need to in order to preserve our homes. It is about whether we will preserve the Serbian character of our homes in Kosovska Mitrovica, and not about anything else, not about any local or world politics. That’s why I beg everyone to fulfill their civic, and if you want their Serbian duty, on May 19th.“
