Ashton welcomes energy agreement (Tanjug)

BRUSSELS - The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has welcomed the agreement reached earlier this week between Serbia's and Kosovo's power transmission companies with EU mediation.

"Through this agreement between the Transmission System Operators energy relations between Pristina and Belgrade will be normalised, and KOSTT can play its role of managing the high-voltage networks in Kosovo," Ashton said in a press release late Friday.

"The two sides also approved the Action Plan to implement Arrangements on Energy, reached by the two Prime Ministers last year in the EU-facilitated dialogue for normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina," the press release said.

The High Representative thanked the Energy Community Secretariat for supporting the discussions between the two transmission companies.

"These steps are crucial for the implementation of Energy Arrangements; we expect they will promote a stable and secure power supply that all citizens deserve," Ashton said.
