The witnesses did not confirm the EULEX suspicions against Slavisa Ristic (Politika)
The EULEX Prosecution has not filed an indictment against Slavisa Ristic, a former president of Zubin Potok, who is suspected of alleged serious crimes. After hours of interrogation, Ristic was determined the measure of mandatory reporting to the Mitrovica and Zubin Potok police station.
Ljubomir Pantovic, Ristic's lawyer, says "my client is still under investigation, he is suspected of two events, and even though I know for sure that quite a number of witnesses were interogated, I do not know when the prosecution will conclude its investigation. At this point I am not able to make out what the prosecutor will decide at the end of the investigation and whether it will bring charges against Mr. Ristic".
Quite a number of witnesses were interrogated, who did not claim what the Prosecution claims, and in the case file there is no evidence to support a reasonable suspicion that he was guilty of any crime. Lawyer Pantovic substantiated his claims by the fact that it is precisely for these reasons why "two EULEX judges rejected the proposal of EULEX Prosecution to determine Ristic measure of house detention, and there is no evidence to claim that there is a reasonable suspicion that he was guilty of any crime."
According to Pantovic, measure of reporting to the police "for now is limited to one month, and the prosecution may seek an extension of that measure."
Asked by Politika, whether EULEX can possibly revise the decision and impose another measure, the lawyer replied:
- Yes, but only if Ristic does not respect a measure of reporting to the police station. He may then be given the judicial custody as the most serious measure.
Against Slavisa Ristic, two events are investigated, or he is charged of 15 offenses.
EULEX Prosecution suspects Ristic of being involved in the murder of Kosovo policeman from the ranks of the special unit Rosu Enver Zymberi, and in connection with the event he is charged of seven offenses.
The second event is related to May 2012, when a group of villagers in Zubin Potok allegedly attacked and damaged two police vehicles of EULEX.
For this event, according to the Prosecutor's Office, Slavisa Ristic was responsible for eight offenses.
Although a few days ago EULEX said to Politika that Ristic was charged with the criminal offense of April 2014, and on the basis of four offenses, the lawyer rejects such allegations, because "there is nothing of it in the scriptures," and adds that is probably the word of "gross oversight."
In order to check whether there was a "gross and inexcusable mistake", we called the Information Service of the mission, however, nobody answered.
