Thaci: Rama’s statement misinterpreted (Blic)

Kosovo Minister of foreign affairs Hashim Thaci said today that the statement of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the unification of Kosovo and Albania is misinterpreted. “We didn’t talk about changing the boundaries, but about reducing ‘visibility of the boundaries’ according to the European model, so that people could move freely. We will all one day belong to that European area,” said Thaci to the reporters in Zagreb, after meeting with the Croatian Foreign Minister, Vesna Pusic.

When asked by journalists about the statement of Edi Rama that Kosovo and Albania will unify, either within the EU or in classical way, which has sparked criticism from the EU and Serbia, Thaci said that Rama is leader inclined to reformations, who has a clear European vision of Albania and strongly supports dialogue of Kosovo and Serbia. Thaci added that he share with Rama the same vision about the region according to the European model of open borders.

At the insistence of journalists to comment on Rama's statement Thaci said that he is not Rama’s spokesperson, but that he can talk about what he heard during the interview. “If we talk about the interview, none of us spoke about national unification or changing of the borders,” Thaci said.
