Director of the Government Office for Cooperation with the media Milivoje Mihajlovic hopes that the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Belgrade will be in favour of good neighbourly relations in the region and good relations between Serbia and Germany.

"The interest of Germany for the regional cooperation is huge and it will be the main topic. What brings Merkel, according to Western media, is to speed up the region to the EU with regional cooperation and resolving the remaining issues," said Mihajlovic in the RTS news.

Serbia, he says, hopes for the good assessment of the economic reforms that have been implemented so far.

Mihajlovic said that the public interest on Merkel's visit to Belgrade is big, that 250 journalists so far have been accredited, cameramen and photographers from 65 domestic and foreign media, nine of which are from Germany.
