Jevtić: The displaced have no more patience to wait to return (Kontakt plus radio)
Regional Conference for lasting solutions to the question of displaced persons within the Skopje-based initiative is being held in Belgrade. The first day of the conference, a meeting of the technical working group was held, and during the second day of a regional conference there will be a meeting at a high political level.
Minister for Communities and Return Dalibor Jevtić, attended the meeting of the technical working group which was held on the topic of planning solutions.
"I think that responsible implementation of the agreed measures and action plans in the area of property rights, the right to personal documentation, safe return, will provide many benefits that would improve the lives of displaced persons, both in the short term and in the long term. Assisting even one family, which 17 years awaits a permanent solution, is of great importance for all of us", said Minister Jevtić.
Jevtić said that the support of the Government of Serbia, in the form of the "Sun Valley", which will be presented and at this meeting, is of great importance for the process of return.
"Just the idea and the goal of the initiative, at the regional level, has been how to join together resources of the Government of Montenegro, Serbia, FYROM and Kosovo in solving the problems of displaced persons. These solutions primarily relates to the decision of the displaced themselves, on the one side, whether they want to return to Kosovo, or want to stay in those places where they are currently displaced," he said.
Minister Jevtić also emphasized that the primary objective was the return all persons to Kosovo. He once again requested the support of all relevant institutions in Kosovo, both domestic and international, to fulfil that objective.
