The debate on relations between Belgrade and Pristina: Chapter 35 is "the condition of all the conditions" (Blic)

The process of normalization of relations between Serbs and Kosovo Albanians, which is the essence of Chapter 35 in the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union, is “in the haze”, because representatives of civil society are excluded from the dialogue, was concluded after the debate organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Belgrade Center for contemporary politics.

As noted by the President of the Center for Practical Policy Dragan Popovic, the process of normalization of relations between Serbs and Albanians from Kosovo is a key activity of civil society organizations since nineties of the last century. Those organizations are trying to improve relations between the two nations and ethnic communities after 100 years of misunderstanding. “Dialogue is not open to the public, what caused a huge mistrust of the people. The public have already been contaminated with distrust and not only the Serbs, but also people in Kosovo, where resistance to this process is even more powerful,” said Popovic.  He stressed that the long term results are not achievable without transparency and involvement of other parts of society in the whole process.
