Kurti: Murat Jashari would be the right choice for President (media)
All news websites report that Kosovo Prime Minister and Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti said at the meeting of the general council of this party that Murat Jashari would have been the right choice for Kosovo President. “In difficult times, we found support and inspiration from the Jashari family, as we did during the war. Today, the election of a figure like Murat Jashari would have been the right choice at the right time. After my second meeting with the PDK leader, I was told about the position of their party chairmanship that they believe that starting from next week the President should come from the PDK. Based on this I think the candidate can come from any party, but ultimately the election of the President is not guaranteed by the party affiliation but rather by the votes in the Assembly,” he said.
Kurti said that one of the options is for every party to propose their candidate and for them to compete in the Assembly as foreseen by the Constitution. “If we don’t manage to find a unifying figure that gets the support of 80 MPs, then one of the remaining options is for every party to propose a candidate and for them to compete in the Assembly. The Constitution foresees this,” he said.

The news website notes that this will be their second meeting on the topic and that it will start at 14:00.
Kosovo leaders stand with United States after attacks in Iran (media)
All news websites reported that Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani reacted after the US attacks in Iran quoting her as saying that “the hour of freedom has come for the people of Iran, thanks to the leadership of the United States and President Donald Trump”. “As always, the Republic of Kosovo unwaveringly stands with the United States and its allies in defending freedom, peace, security, and stability. We also strongly condemn the attacks of the Iranian regime against our allies in the Middle East. We will continue to support the actions undertaken by the United States and other allies to put an end to the Iranian regime and finally give freedom and peace a chance,” Osmani said in a post on X.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said in a Facebook post that “international security needs less nuclear weapons and not more nuclear bombs that threaten all humankind, and this matter becomes urgent and alarming especially when authoritarian states develop nuclear weapons programs”. He said that Kosovo supports the position of the United States and the European Union about Iran’s program to develop nuclear programs. “The United States are our main ally, irreplaceable partner and special friend. The Republic of Kosovo stands strongly in defense of democratic and Euro-Atlantic values. The United States are the democratic superpower that must be supported,” he said.
Kosovo Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca said that Kosovo stands with the United States in efforts to deter regimes that threaten international peace and security. “For decades the Iranian regime has oppressed its own people, destabilized the region, and supported actions that undermine global stability. We stand in solidarity with the Iranian people and their legitimate aspirations for freedom, dignity, and democracy, and against the policies and actions of the regime that deny them these fundamental rights. Lasting stability requires accountability, respect for human rights, adherence to international law, and the protection of fundamental freedoms,” Konjufca said in a post on X.
EU expected to lift all penalty measures against Kosovo today (Koha)

The decision has been made by the respective bodies of the European Commission and will be adopted by the member states at the meeting of the Working Party of the Western Balkans Region (COWEB) in Brussels today.
Sources also said that all technical procedures have been completed by the EU structures and the member states will only approve the decision today.

All news websites reported that the Kosovo Police, in coordination with the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, carried out a large-scale police operation on Saturday that resulted in the arrest of five people suspected of war crimes against the civilian population. The operation, codenamed “Syrigana”, was conducted after several months of investigations by the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, which are related to the murder of six Albanian civilians in the village of Syrigana, in the Municipality of Skenderaj, during the period May-June 1998.
According to the official announcement, during the investigations, material evidence and testimonies considered relevant were obtained, on the basis of which the suspects were identified and a criminal report was compiled and submitted to the Special Prosecution Office.

The police operation began at around 06:00 in the morning and took place in six separate locations, five in the municipality of Skenderaj and one in Mitrovica North. Investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, supported by the Special Operations Unit, participated in the action.
During the raids on residential buildings and related facilities, carried out with a verbal warrant obtained through the special prosecutor and approved by the Basic Court in Pristina - Special Department, a semi-automatic long gun SKS, a Zastava M-57 belt gun, two magazines and 77 cartridges, a hunting rifle with 17 cartridges and a belt gun, as well as uniforms and parts of uniforms of the former Yugoslav army were confiscated.

The Kosovo Police said in a statement that, in cooperation with the Special Prosecution, it remains committed to uncovering war crimes and bringing those responsible to justice, guaranteeing the rule of law and justice for victims and their families.
Vucic: Pristina has ‘tacit support of West” following arrest of five Serbs (Kossev)
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that the authorities in Pristina enjoy the “tacit support of the Western world” in their actions, commenting on the arrest of five Kosovo Serbs earlier in the day on suspicion of war crimes. “Essentially, they have the tacit support of the Western world for whatever they do,” Vucic said in an interview with TV Una.
Emini: Kosovo needs internal debate on Association, no rushed negotiations (KTV)
Foreign policy commentator Donika Emini, in a podcast with Veton Surroi on KTV on Sunday, advised the Kosovo government to initiate a broad and inclusive debate in Kosovo about the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, instead of focusing immediately on high-level negotiations in Brussels.
According to Emini, the current political circumstances both in Kosovo and in Serbia are not favorable for a quick return to the high-level dialogue. She said that because of internal tensions in Serbia, expected elections and geopolitical developments, Kosovo should use this time to “recalibrate” on the dialogue. “It should not implement the Association immediately, but it should launch a debate on its implementation within the country,” she argued.
Emini said the debate on the Association should not be limited only with Serbs in the north of Kosovo, but should include Serbs in the south too and other segments of society in order to avoid as she said “an obsession only with one segment of society”.

Albanian speaking journalists, doctors, and artists targeted in AI-driven health scams (PI)
Artificial intelligence is being used to fabricate videos of well-known journalists, doctors and artists in Kosovo and Albania, falsely portraying them as endorsing “miracle” medical treatments and unlicensed products.
In December 2025, the logo of Radio Television of Kosovo, RTK, was manipulated, along with the image of news presenter and journalist Gëzim Bimbashi, where using artificial intelligence, a fake video was created in which he appears as presenting a story claiming that a student had discovered a formula to cure joint diseases.
Contacted by the Kallxo.com fact-checking platform Krypometër, Bimbashi stated that the voice used in the video was not his and that RTK had never broadcast such a report.
“A fake video is circulating on social media, where my image and voice have been taken from RTK news broadcasts and manipulated through artificial intelligence. I categorically deny this material. I have never read or promoted such information,” Bimbashi said.
He warned that, “AI-generated misinformation poses serious risks to journalists, presenters and other public figures-something media outlets need to treat with urgency, as failing to do so could lead to serious consequences for anyone with influence in society.”
