After “interference”, Serb applications increase up to 6,593 (dailies)
Koha Ditore reports that from 1 thousand and 213 Serb applications received as regular , Secretariat of Central Election Commission after the “interference” to be also accepted those who have refugee identification cards has achieved this figure in 6 thousand and 593. The newspaper has ensured the report with the data from the voting operation by mail. The head of CEC, Valdete Daka, has rejected to have been made pressure over the work of CEC Secretariat, while applications with refugee identification cards they have accepted also in the last elections. However, CEC members expressed that refugee identification cards could serve as identification card, but not also to give “judicial eligibility” to the voters.
According to the report of the Secretariat of Central Election Commission, which has newspaper, from 39 thousand applications that have been verified – 6 thousand and 453 from them have been approved, while 39 thousand and 453 have been refused from the Secretariat as irregular. “This is a CEC report, after the request to accept as regular those applicants who had refugee id cards, but the refugee identification card is not enough that they would have the right to vote,” said one source from the CEC Secretariat.
Thaçi: Obama is supporting us (dailies)
Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaçi, has evaluated as successful his visit in USA. According to him, this was a successful visit for the promotion of the state of Kosovo. In an interview for RTK, Kosovo Prime Minister has singled his meeting with the president of USA, Barack Obama. “President Obama gave us guarantees for further support of Republic of Kosovo,” said Thaçi. According to him the meetings in New York have been used in increasing of recognitions for Kosovo. “We have received these three recognitions. I can guarantee that more recognition is expected to come, including also from 5 EU countries, said Thaçi. According to him, Kosovo is seen as a success story.
Thaçi to be secured by Serb MPs (Tribuna)
Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi is planning to create a new ministry to be led by representatives of the Serb community, namely someone from Joint Alliance parliamentary group of Minister Nenad Rasic. The move would come as a protection measure in case Jakup Krasniqi and Fatmir Limaj form their own group and leave the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
“Problems with failed voting for PTK where the Government did not manage to secure the majority but also the statements of Limaj against PDK and Krasniqi’s distancing from the party, led the Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi talk to the Minister of Work and Social Welfare Nenad Rasic and make sure his group will remain part of the ruling coalition,” a source told the paper.
Haradinaj: Early elections, not qualitative (dailies)
Leader of the Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, said the party is against the idea of going to early elections as they would damage Kosovo. “The problem is with quality of elections, it is risky to head for elections in 45 days and the problem is if these will be indeed elections or a different kind of operation,” said Haradinaj.
Addressing recent media reports that AAK is getting closer to PDK and could join the ruling coalition, Haradinaj did not completely rule out the idea but said he would prefer the new government made of opposition parties. “I think it is healthier for Kosovo to have a government from the opposition but let’s see first what the citizens will say in elections,” he noted.
OIC repeats appeal for recognition of Kosovo by member states (dailies)
Council of Foreign Ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference OIC during the early coordinating summit which they have conducted in the UN headquarters has reaffirmed the call for the remaining member states of this organization to recognize independent sovereign state of Kosovo.
Hoxhaj meets Serbian Foreign Minister Mrkic (Epoka e Re)
Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj, met in New York his Serbian counterpart, Ivan Mrkic. “Many meetings and exchange of opinions on bilateral issues, in New York, during the works of the UN General Assembly, with Foreign Minister Mrkic,” wrote Minister Hoxhaj on “Twitter,” where he posted the picture from the meeting, which appears to have been taken at some bar of the UN HQ.
Hoxhaj confirms opening of Kosovo embassy in Panama (Koha Ditore)
Kosovo Foreign minister, Enver Hoxhaj, during his stay in New York, has met with the Foreign minister of Panama, Nunez Fabrega. During the meeting minister Hoxhaj has reconfirmed the decission of Republic of Kosovo for the opening of the first Kosovo embassy in South America, exactly in Panama.
