Coalition block gives up Assembly Speaker’s position, PDK wants more (dailies)
The coalition block agreed on Friday to vote for the candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK,) for the position of the Assembly President, expecting to afterwards create the new government as parliamentary majority, after PDK as the first mandated by the Constitution, fails to do so. With this decision, the block endangered its coalition of 10 June, since the nominated candidate to lead the future government of Kosovo will not be Ramush Haradinaj, but a candidate from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK.) The block has accepted to vote the PDK candidate for Assembly Speaker, if President Atifete Jahjaga gurantees that in case the PDK, as the first mandated, does not manage to gain votes to create the government, the second proposal would belong to the coalition block.
“From now on, we expect from PDK to reflect in order to engage on building the institutions. Ms. Brovina should call the session and start constitution of the bodies of the Republic of Kosovo,” stated Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA.) Limaj did not want to speak about the position of the prime minister saying only that the coalition block is strong and sustainable.
The other leaders of the coalition block did not make any statements, however, LDK, mentioned in a press release, “a government led by LDK.”
However, Hashim Thaci, the outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo and PDK leader, wrote on his facebook page about two options: “either a joint solution or a joint decision for extraordinary elections.”
Sources within AAK: Haradinaj remains candidate for Prime Minister (Epoka e Re)
A close source to Ramush Haradinaj, the leader of the Alliance for The Future of Kosovo (AAK,) reportedly told this daily that Ramush Haradinaj remains the candidate of the coalition block for the Prime Minister of Kosovo. The source added that the agreement reached between the parties of this coalition would not breech. “The issue of the coalition candidate for prime minister was not opened at the Friday’s meeting of the leaders of coalition block,” said the source.
LDK wants to lead the government (Epoka e Re)
The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) held on Friday a meeting with its structures, leadership, leaders of its branches and deputies. After the meeting, this party issued a press release which informs that the meeting was a continuance of the efforts to overcome the current political situation. “LDK as the leader of the coalition of parliamentary majority, is determined to work intensively on creation of the new government of the country, led by LDK,” stresses the press release.
Greater Albania, a danger for the region (Zeri)
Tomislav Nikolic, President of Serbia, spoke during a meeting with the Prime Minister of France, Manuel Valls, in Belgrade about the “Greater Albania,” and its threat for the region. According to the Serbian news agency Beta, Nikolic warned PM Valls about the danger from the continuous provocation of the Albanians in region. He said that problems can exceed at some point to an extent that even the European Union would not be able to resolve them.
Krasniqi: Coalition block is deceiving itself (Zeri)
Memli Krasniqi, deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) considers that the decision of the coalition block to give up the post of the Assembly Speaker, and leave it to the PDK, is a deception. “What happened to point 127 of the decision of the Constitutional Court? Coalition block can only deceive itself with these games. This is not giving up, but acceptance of the reality,” wrote Krasniqi in his profile on Twitter.
