Coalition block shakes (Koha Ditore)
The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK,) is determined to keep the position of the Prime Minister, after giving up that of the Assembly Speaker. Vjosa Osmani, LDK deputy, said for this daily that discussions among the partners of the coalition are ongoing and that a final decision is not reached yet. “However, we hope that this agreement will be reached and that the cause that united us, that of sending the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK,) to opposition, will be implemented,” said Osmani. She added that representation of the political parties in coalition should reflect the political power and votes each party has.
On the other hand, Avni Arifi, adviser to the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK,) said that they remain loyal to the reached agreement and that no one discussed other options with his party.
Rama welcomed as a hero in Prizren (Koha Ditore)
After his two-day visit to Serbia, Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama was welcomed as a hero in Kosovo. On his way back, he stopped in Prizren where Kosovo’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj hosted him with dinner as a sign of appreciation for Rama’s expressed position on Kosovo in Belgrade.
During his visit to Serbia, Rama stated at the joint press conference with Serbia’s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, that the independent Kosovo, recognized by 108 states so far and supported by the International Court of Justice, is an undeniable and irreversible regional and European reality.
Rama: I will not allow Albanians’ assimilation in the Valley (Koha Ditore)
Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Albania, was welcomed with Albanian flags and ovations by thousands of Albanians in Presevo Valley. Rama’s message during his second day of the visit assessed as historical to Serbia, was that he will not allow assimilation of Albanians in Presevo Valley. He added that there is not a single reason why Albanians of this region should not have the same rights as Serbs in northern Kosovo. “Albania will support positions which aim solution of the Albanian issue in Presevo Valley in accordance with Serbia’s reaching closer to the EU, and it will not allow assimilation of Albanians in this region,” said Rama to the crowd in Presevo.
Haradinaj and Mustafa privately in Berlin (Tribuna)
After the reporting of the media close to the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK,) and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK,) that Isa Mustafa and Ramush Haradinaj were invited by Berlin to discuss political crises in Kosovo, German Embassy in Pristina confirmed for Indeksonline that Germany is not involved in their visits there. “With regards to your question, Embassy informs you that we are not involved in these visits. Every politician is free to organize their own visits in Germany,” is the short but clear response from the German Embassy in Pristina. Based on this response, leaders of LDK and AAK were not invited by Berlin, but it was simply their wish to travel to Berlin, even though, they tried to spread the word that their agenda included meeting with Chancellor Merkel as well.
New agreement for the post of prime minister (Epoka e Re)
Vetevendosje movement supports the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK,) on the issue of reaching a new agreement with the partners of the coalition. Vetevendosje deputy, Visar Ymeri, said that they will participate in the discussions in order to supplement the agreement of 10 September with two additional ones: one agreement for the program of the new government, and the other, for the posts in the government expected to implement the program, including here the post of the prime minister.
Kocijancic: EU sees Rama's visit to Belgrade as a turning point (Koha Ditore)
Maja Kocijancic, Spokesperson for the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, said that the European Union sees Monday's visit of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to the Serbian capital of Belgrade as a turning page in the relations between the two countries.
“We expect that both leaders will show renewed determination and political courage to turn toward the future, and after many years, establish good relations,” Kocijancic said.
Brussels wants both countries to work on reconciliation and improve their ties and regional security, especially in the framework of the European perspective of Western Balkans.
Protective measures for witnesses (Kosova Sot)
EU Special Investigation Task Force (SITF) has approved special protective measures that ensure confidentiality of documents and security of witnesses in a process that is expected to take place after an indictment that is expected to be raised based on the report of the Council of Europe. Joao Sousa, Spokesperson of SITF said that their investigation has been assessed as quite sensitive and that they used extreme security methods. He added that this force is fully committed to continue with the investigation.
