Democracy in Action, based on information from monitors of this mission, said election campaign has so far been peaceful, civilised and without any reported incidents.

In a press conference, DiA officials also expressed concern with the proposal of certain members of the Central Election Commission for recount of all votes. DiA considers that such an initiative is in conflict to the election law which clearly specifies under which conditions votes can be recounted.

DiA also said that the threat of the northern municipalities’ mayors to suspend all election activities will damage the interests of the citizens in the north.

Democracy in Action also announced that participation of women in election campaign of political parties continues to be extremely low. Of 208 activities monitored by DiA, in 41 percent of them participation of women was under 5 percent.
