Gashi: The justice of UNMIK and EULEX violated every international convention (Indeksonline)
The news site conducted an interview with Latif Gashi, former Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP and former KLA commander for the Llapi region, before Gashi went to prison today to serve the remainder of his sentence. Gashi told the news site that he is carrying out an obligation in accordance with the law. He also said that "the justice of UNMIK and EULEX have violated every international convention during the Llapi Group trial".
You are going voluntarily to jail today to serve the remaining sentence confirmed by the Appellate Court?
Yes this is true. We have filed a request with the Basic Court to serve the remainder of a sentence from an unfair trial that began over 14 years ago.
You already served 2/3 of the sentence. Do you expect the respective authorities to decide on your release on bail for the remainder of the sentence, because this is your legal right and it is known that even The Hague has acquitted people responsible of war crimes after they served 2/3 of their sentence.
I am carrying out a state obligation and it is up to relevant authorities to perform their duties and responsibilities in line with the law and the constitution. We were responsible for defending our home country, we fought for the freedom of our country, we led a fair and liberating war, we respected every war convention therefore I consider that the international justice of UNMIK, which was then copy-pasted by EULEX, has violated every international convention with the judicial proceedings against us. It is now up to God, history and their conscience to assess it; we did and are doing our duty for our country. Kosovo is free and independent today, this is what matters! I use the opportunity to thank my family and friends who supported me firmly throughout all these historic processes.
