Orlović: 3,000 suspects who committed war crimes in Kosovo, Bosnia and Croatia are living in Serbia (media)
Several media report that Sandra Orlović, executive director of the Human Rights Fund, told the Belgrade-based Danas newspaper, that according to her estimates at least 3,000 people suspected of committing war crimes in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo, are living in Serbia. Orlović said that Serbia has become an oasis of not convicting war crimes given the small number of indictments in the last five years. She also recalled that Vladimir Vukcević, former Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor, said before the end of his mandate that in Belgrade alone there are 80 war crimes suspects. Orlović further argued that the failure to appoint a new prosecutor for war crimes shows that the regime is trying to minimize the prosecution of war crimes.
