Report: Kosovo has high level of inactive women in labour market (Kallxo/Koha)

A recent report published by the Democracy for Development (D4D) think tank has found that Kosovo has the highest percentage of inactive women in the labour market compared to countries in the region. D4D director, Shpend Emini, said the report sheds light into reasons why 80 percent of women in Kosovo don’t seek employment. He said that there should be conditions in place to encourage women to apply for work.

The report showed that majority of women respondents consider the patriarchal mentality to be the main reason for their inactivity in the labour market. Furthermore, the report found that 76 percent of women were not offered any type of training for joining the labour market while 11.9 percent of interviewed women said that the training they received did not help them find employment.
