The NGO Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC) yesterday organized a conference in Mitrovica North within the project ‘Empowering Women’.

Participants at the conference mainly addressed the issues of women’s inheritance rights in Kosovo north and presented their findings on whether women are equal with men in enjoying their rights.

“I would like to say that little has being said about women’s property rights and because of this I support the NGO ACDC, which has launched this project. The percentage of women who own property and are registered in books on their names, and it is around 4 per cent, tells us how big the problems is,” said Ružica Simić from the NGO ‘Woman’s right’.

“When it comes to women’s property rights we could say that not everything is that bad as we could hear. In last couple years we have cases that women are requesting part of the property that was not offered to them before,” said Srđan Simonović manager of the project.

The project was launched in September last year and will last until August this year.
