The most beautiful politicians (Koha Ditore)
KTV’s editor-in-chief Adriatik Kelmendi claims that if candidates running in upcoming elections were really as they portray themselves to be Kosovo would not be in the state it is – one of the least developed countries in Europe.
Kelmendi says that everything seen during this election campaign is easily compared to a beauty contest but warns the voters not to be deceived by the beauty of the promises they are hearing stressing that their memory should be longer than the ten-day campaign.
A lot of focus during the campaign has been on the economy and although it is positive that political parties are finally switching to real problems the citizens have but the parties making big promises for economic revival of Kosovo are precisely those which hide their own finances. For fifteen years now, no one knows exactly how the parties are funded, remarks Kelmendi. “If everything is okay with the way they are funded, they would have no reason not to make the funding transparent”, he writes.
In the recent days, everyone has witnessed vast amount of money being spent on election campaign and the biggest irony lies in the fact that politicians are extorting money from the citizens for funding their campaigns.
If the politicians were not good for the citizens before the start of election campaign why would anyone expect them to be good now, asks Kelmendi.
