“Forgotten” economy (Kosova Sot)
The paper observes in its front-page editorial that despite the increase of salaries in the public sector, there are no visible signs of Kosovo’s economic revival. The private sector has been neglected and without its revival, there can be no survival of the economy, the paper claims. While this hopeless situation in economy persists, politicians continue to behave irresponsibly. Citizens want to see new institutions in place as soon as possible in order to tackle these economic problems but this cannot happen for as long as there is continuous and ruthless tendency from ‘election losers’ to block the forming of institutions, writes the paper further. There are many capital projects like the Trepca mine and Kosovo Post and Telecom that are hostage to political developments but there are also many other private businesses that are expecting fiscal benefits from the new government. Kosovo politics, remarks the paper, should overcome the sore feeling over election defeat as it is becoming increasingly tiring for the electorate.
