Three options to overcome political crisis (Klan Kosova)
Senior member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ardian Gjini, argues in an opinion piece that Kosovo has only three options to overcome the current crisis.“The first option is the continuation of this government until it fails to elect new President and thus Kosovo going to new elections. In the meantime there would be more protests. The second option is the continuation of this government and the election of new President from the current coalition. In this case, the presidency would become a sub-institution of the government. It is understandable that the opposition, in no circumstances will recognize that institution. The only institution that has retained a degree of credibility in the political system would collapse. Protests would continue, with the possibility of violence. The third option is an agreement for early elections now. With this option, it will be unknown who will be elected president, who will win the elections, who will create the ruling-coalition and some other issues. But, this option would resolve many other issues. First, the political scene will gain a much-needed reset. Political and institutional responsibility would increase. The pre-election promises would be more rational. The two recent agreements with Serbia and Montenegro which brought many problems in Kosovo, should be renegotiated. It is very important, if not vital, for all relevant actors in Kosovo to study all options. Also to propose other options if they find, but always taking into account the future of the people of Kosovo," Gjini concludes.
