Williamson, face to face with Jahjaga (Express, Koha)
Clint Williamson, the lead prosecutor for the EU Special Investigative Task Force (SITF) investigating the war crime and organised crime allegations in the Council of Europe (CoE) report met this morning with Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga.
According to a press release from the meeting, Jahjaga said that Kosovo institutions are committed to cooperate with SITF in the coming period to strengthen rule of law and meet obligations to the local and international justice.
Jahjaga is also quoted to have said that the Kosovo Assembly has endorsed the creation of the Special Court and as soon as new institutions are consolidated, they will implement agreement by making necessary legal and constitutional changes to accommodate the new court.
President Jahjaga said she is committed to make sure that Kosovo’s approach to justice is comprehensive and that investigations into the Council of Europe report are not attempts to try Kosovo’s collective fight for freedom but a way to prosecute alleged individual crimes.
She assured Williamson that Kosovo is committed to face these allegations in a credible process so that it can close this chapter and strengthen its international position.
