Agreement on justice does not violate Kosovo laws (RTK)
RTK reports that the agreement on justice reached in Brussels between Pristina and Belgrade, does not violate any of the current laws in the field of justice. RTK claims to possess a copy of this agreement, which shows that it is in full accordance with Kosovo’s justice system. “Kosovo laws will apply to judicial institutions in accordance with the First Agreement,” it is written in the document published by RTK. It also says: “There will be one Basic Court and one Prosecution Office for the Mitrovica region.” The news portal writes that it is specified that in Kosovo, President of the Basic Court decides on the allocation of cases.“The allocation of cases to prosecutors is based on expertise, specialization, personal background and local area knowledge, according to Kosovo laws,” states the agreement. According to this agreement, the Basic Court in northern Mitrovica will comprise of: Department of Court of Appeals in Mitrovica, which will consist of five Serb judges and two Albanian judges, while the Department of Serious Crimes for the entire Mitrovica region will consists of four Serb judges and four Albanian judges.
