Jahjaga: NATO stopped crime and returned hope to Kosovo (Koha)
Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, in a statement on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the start of NATO air strikes, said that that was an act which enabled Kosovo’s people to live freely today.
“NATO air strikes on the Serb military and police forces were in defense of peace, the prevention of genocide, the forced eviction of the population, the destruction of life and property of the citizens of Kosovo. These attacks were the most humanitarian actions in the history of the North Atlantic Alliance as a powerful determinant of the democratic world against the aggressive policies and the protection of the civilian population. We express our everlasting gratitude to the United States, EU member states and NATO, for the commitment to the protection of the values of civilization and that the people of Kosovo today are free and equal,” Jahjaga said.
“In this 16th anniversary, Kosovo is proving the best example of building a society of equals, without distinction, respect the cultural and religious diversity and building on the foundations of democracy. A state which proves the joint success of the institutions, citizens’ and the international community, an important factor of peace and stability, an internationally recognized state with clear intentions of joining the EU, the UN and NATO.”
