Djuric discussess Kosovo situation with Belgian delegation (RTS, Tanjug)
BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric has discussed the situation in the Serbian province with a delegation of the Belgian foreign ministry.
The Belgian delegation visiting Serbia is headed by Jean-Arthur Regibeau, Director General at the ministry's Directorate for Multilateral Affairs and Globalisation, and Thursday's discussions were also attended by Belgian Ambassador to Serbia Leo D'aes.
Djuric briefed the delegation on the challenges facing the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija, in particular the province's displaced population, the Office for Kosovo-Metohija said in a statement.
The two sides agreed that respect of international law is very significant, expressing hope that the two countries will intensify economic cooperation and trade.
Djuric informed the Belgian delegation of the framework of Serbia's regional cooperation, noting that Belgrade has managed to establish very good ties with regional countries and make progress towards joining the EU.
Regibeau expressed interest in many matters related to Serbia's domestic and foreign policy as the country is to preside over the OSCE in 2015.
Regibeau said that Belgium will preside over the Council of Europe at the same time, adding that it is important that the two countries cooperate during that time to make the cooperation between the Council of Europe and the OSCE successful.
Speaking about current developments in Europe, Regibeau said that Belgium expects Serbia to align its positions successively with the EU's foreign policy on its path towards the EU.
