Djuric: Distribution of seats to be discussed in Brussels (Tanjug)
BELGRADE - Marko Djuric, head of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), has said on Tuesday that the distribution of seats following the early parliamentary elections in Kosovo has yet to be completed, noting that there is certain disagreement over the interpretations concerning the way in which that would be done so the issue should be addressed in Brussels.
"We expect this will be a subject of discussion in Brussels. This is a very important topic for us, which is related to the level of political rights of Serbs and we will fight for that with resolve," Djuric said in a live broadcast on Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS).
Asked whether Serbia could count on support from international actors in that regard, Djuric noted that the talks are being held with the most powerful states, and beyond.
The 10 seats guarantee that the Serb community in KiM will play a significant role in the provincial political life, where it will be an indispensable political actor, he said.
"That is important so that we can protect the rights of our people in KiM, but also legitimate rights and interests of the state of Serbia," he noted.
