Serbian municipalities in Kosovo like South Tyrol (Blic)
“In preparing the draft Statute of the Community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO), we used elements of different models of the European regions. The South Tyrol drew the most attention and I can say that it is closest model to the ZSO,” said the coordinator of the management team for establishing the ZSO, Ljubomir Maric.
In its structure, the ZSO will have four municipalities in the north and six south of the Ibër/Ibar river, and the plan is the establishment of two more - Gora and Prilužje. Each of them will decide independently on the accession to the ZSO and will have the delegates. With ZSO, the separation of Serbs on the north and south of the Ibër/Ibar river will be abolished, said Maric.
Stating that the ZSO is entity, which will be recognised by Belgrade, Pristina and the international community, Maric stated that there is a readiness for the commencement of talks with Albanian side on the draft Statute. However, due to the problems in formation of the provincial government, the talks are postponed.
