Vucic: Serbia has full confidence in UN (Tanjug)
BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic received a farewell visit from Peter Due, representative of the UN Secretary General and head of the UN Office in Belgrade, the Serbian government's media relations office said in a release.
Serbia highly appreciates the role of the United Nations and has full confidence in the world organization, and it therefore wants UNMIK to play a greater role in Kosovo-Metohija, Prime Minister Vucic said.
The two officials agreed that regional stability was of crucial importance and Due stressed that the Serbian government and Prime Minister Vucic had made a major contribution to reconciliation in the region.
Serbia will increase the participation of its troops in international peacekeeping forces, the Serbian prime minister said, and the UN representative UN hailed that as a great contribution to world peace.
Vucic thanked for the aid and assistance coming from the UN after the catastrophic floods that hit Serbia in 2014, and wished Due a lot of success at his new, responsible position in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, which he will be performing in New York, where he will also be dealing with matters relating to UNMIK, according to the release.
