The protest of Serbian journalists (KIM Radio)
Serbian journalists from Kosovo requested the response of the security authorities, representatives of Kosovo and international institutions, because of the attack on journalists of RTS, B92 and RTK2, during protests which were held on Saturday.
President of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija Budimir Ničić said that Serbian journalists are not afraid of protesters, but the lack of a system that can protect them from the attack. Ničić has criticized the representatives of Kosovo and international institutions, especially lack of the reaction of The Police, which didn’t clearly condemned the attacks on Serbian journalists.
According to Nicic, the decision of the Serbian journalists not to report during the protest in Pristina on Tuesday was influenced by the Self-Determination Movement’s statement. As he claims, they condemned the attack on journalists of RTK2 (Kosovo government’s TV in Serbian language) but they didn’t condemn the attacks on the journalists of RTS and B92. "The question is does that mean that the attack on the other journalists is allowed?” asked Ničić.
Journalists of TV Most, RTV KIM, RTV Puls, Radio Gracanica, journalists of New Press production and Media Center and correspondents of RTS and B92 joined the protest. RTK2 journalists, whose team was attacked during Saturday's protest, didn’t join the protest.
