Mitrovica: Work place for all police officers (Vecernje Novosti)

Former employees of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs from North Mitrovica request a meeting with the Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. No one replied so far on their request to be redeployed in MIA or in the Kosovo Police.

Unsatisfied due to their current status, former employees of the Police Department in North Mitrovica who were not integrated into Kosovo Police, and who staged protest last week in front of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija’s premises, request a meeting with the Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. Around 130 employees, amongst whom and around 30 police officers, request meeting with Vucic since they received no reply so far from provisional institutions in Pristina, EULEX, (Serbian) MIA and Office for Kosovo and Metohija with regard to their status questions.

“Our only hope is that our status will be reviewed by the Prime Minister (Aleksandar) Vucic,” said Rajko Sekularac, one of the employees’ representatives. He said that around 130 of them are not satisfied with their status and request to be employed by Kosovo Police immediately, or that they are redeployed by the Serbian MIA. One of their requests is and that regulation on so called special retirement, based on which they are retired, is amended and harmonized with the Serbian laws in force.

In line with the Brussels Agreement around 400 employees of Serbian MIA in northern Mitrovica retired with the right to be integrated into Kosovo Police, which lately employed only 280 of them.
