Opening of the Centre for preventive action and protection of women against violence (Kontakt Plus Radio)
Center for preventive action and protection of women against violence (CPPW), the first of its kind, is opened in Kosovska Mitrovica. As said, CPPW will be available for women who are victims, or potential victims, and all other women who suffer any discrimination. The Center will provide legal, economic and psychological support. Beside office in Mitrovica north CPPW will have also operational office in Zubin Potok.
This project was financially supported by the EU with over 120 thousand euros and is implemented by the NGO "Zensko Pravo" from Kosovska Mitrovica and NGO "Kolo Srpskih sestara" from Zubin Potok.
Director of the NGO "Zensko Pravo" Ruzica Simic said that the aim of the Centre is primarily to win the confidence of women, so they would come to Center and ask for help: “In addition, we can provide legal assistance and file the submissions in cases of domestic violence. We will support women so they could obtain protection from authorized institutions,” she said.
The goal is the end of all forms of discrimination and violence based on gender inequality and building a prosperous society. The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of the US Embassy in Kosovo, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the OSCE, UNMIK, the Administrative Office in Mitrovica, the Red Cross, the Kosovo police, NGOs and others.
