Kosovo analyst: Thaci's statement undiplomatic (Blic)
The Kosovo analysts say that statement of Kosovo Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci that Serbia's decision not to grant him a visit to Belgrade will certainly have consequences is undiplomatic and very irresponsible.
“The way of communication and such a public statement is very irresponsible. The purpose of the Brussels negotiations is to improve relations, not their intensification and if we continue with this kind of rhetoric, Brussels dialogue loses its sense. As I understood, Serbia did not reject Thaci's visit, but he was informed that he will face the justice if he comes. In this situation Kosovo Government could react the same way since Kosovo judicial authorities have similar information about some Serbian officials,” says political analyst Fatmir Sheholi.
He estimates that, however, the ban for the official visit of Marko Djuric, Head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija, is not the same, and it shows “a lack of maturity in the direction of normalization of relations.” “Soon, lot of MPs of the Kosovo government should arrive in Belgrade and what will happen if Serbia responds the same way,” concludes Sheholi.
Thaci said to the Viennese Presse that Serbia's decision not to grant his visit will certainly have consequences, without revealing what that might be. He said there would be no direct countermeasures for the Serbian politicians, but immediately after that statement the visit of Marko Djuric was rejected.
