The pace of return of Albanians in Brdjani area (Kontakt Plus Radio)
Kosovo Minister of Local Government Administration Ljubomir Maric announced that in Brdjani area, in Mitrovica North, will have to be solved the problem of the cadastral zone between the municipality of North and South Mitrovica. On the other side in Pristina is formed the working group for return of IDPs to this settlement.
In the past years Brdjani area has been a source of instability because Albanians are trying to return and reconstruct the houses, while local Serbs are opposed to it, claiming that those Albanians didn’t live there and that the real goal is change in the ethnic structure of the settlement.
At the Inter-ministerial Commission for the return of refugees and displaced persons, established by the Kosovo government, Minister Maric says that there must be order when it comes to the return of displaced and that Brdjani are currently an “urban chaos”. “In Brdjani must be solved some other problems, like the problem of cadastral zones between the two municipalities, infrastructure, with the emphasis on the sustainable return,” said Maric.
Minister for Return and Communities Dalibor Jevtic said he does not want to divide returnees on Serbs and Albanians, or according to any other affiliation. He said that part of the Working Group for the return to Brdjani will be the receiving community, in this case Serbs, the same as it is in the other returnee’ areas in Kosovo.
