Janjic: Brussels wants to integrate Serbs into the Kosovo system (Blic)
Political analyst from Belgrade Dusan Janjic said in Pristina that the aim of the Brussels Agreement was the integration of Serbs, especially those from northern Kosovo into the Kosovo system, and that in the ethnically divided societies the existence of "ethnically pluralistic institutions" is normal.
"It is important to realize that there is the problem of integration of Serbs, or complete integration into the Kosovo system, as stipulated by the Brussels Agreement. Many people in Serbia wouldn’t like to talk about it now. We will not solve many things if we focus on the name, but it is important to know the limitations of both parties," said Janjic at a roundtable about the Community / Association of Serbian Municipalities (ZSO), organized by the Institute for Local Self-Government in Pristina.
He added that when using the word "Community" strengthens Belgrade's political position, and word "Association" is more supportive for the position of Pristina: “Maybe ZSO for Belgrade presents a political promise that must be enforced.”
Janjic added that the Brussels-based dialogue brought a lot of results, and that Serbia has the political will to do something. He added that parallel institutions do no work any longer, because Serbia can no longer hold the "parallelism of institutions" due to economic and budgetary reasons.
Kosovo Minister for dialogue with Serbia, Edita Tahiri said that the position of Kosovo government in regards to ZSO is based on the Kosovo Constitution and laws, as well as on the Brussels agreement.
