Serbs fear the new pogrom (Vecernje Novosti)
Until there is an on-going chaos on the streets of Pristina, because Albanian opposition parties launched battle against the establishment of ZSO by tear gas, pepper-spray and Molotov cocktails, representatives of Serbs in the province fear that unrest could spill over into areas where Serbs live. Therefore, they invite people to be cautious, and also urge all relevant institutions, including international, to stop the violence.
Ljubomir Maric, the Minister for Local Government Administration, said that the events in Pristina must be followed by a sharp response: “Our concern is that the violence could spill over on the Serbs, especially in returnee settlements and areas that are inhabited by the small number of Serbs. There is a risk of complications in the north, which has always been the address for relocation of political problems from Pristina.”
Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic said that the police and the judicial system should prevent people to create chaos: “Serbs felt how it looks like when the violence escalate,.. Therefore they are afraid that it may be repeated.”
