Disunity among Serb MPs in the Kosovo parliament again? (Kontakt Plus Radio)

Two days ago Kosovo parliament voted in support to appointment of Ivan Veljkovic from Štrpce/Shtërpcë for a member of the RTK steering board from the ranks of the Serbian community. Kontakt Plus Radio learned that Serb MPs were not united with regard to election of Veljkovic, who was elected with 55 votes, whereas a counter candidate Marijana Simic received 11 votes.

Secretary General of the Association of Journalists of Serbia, Nino Brajovic, argues that political parties are holding appointments in regulatory bodies in Kosovo as their party prey, what according to him will not contribute to improving media landscape in Kosovo. “Some members from the ranks of the Serbian List have lobbied with Albanian MPs to vote for Veljkovic,”said Brajovic and explained that Marijana Simic enjoyed support of the Serbian media community. Vice-President of the Kosovo parliament from the Serbian List, Slobodan Petrovic, said to Kontakt Plus Radio that he voted in line with the recommendation, however the outcome shows that not all MPs from the Serbian List have followed suit.
