Prosecutor Romul Mateus today will present his closing statement in a trial at Mitrovica Basic Court to the leader of the Civic Initiative SDP Oliver Ivanovic, and four other Serbs.  Presentation of evidence in the case has been accomplished last week, whereas defense of the accused Serbs will present its closing arguments in coming days, following the presentation of prosecutor’s closing statement.

55 witnesses have provided their testimonies in the trial that started on 18 December last year. Ivanovic is accused of committing war crimes against Kosovo Albanian civilians in 1999 and 2000. Indictment also encompasses and four other Serbs, retired colonel of the Serbian Ministry of Interior Dragoljub Delibasic, Aleksandar Lazovic, Ilija and Nebojsa Vujacic who are accused of committing murder and attempted murder.
International court panel of the Mitrovica Basic Court is chaired by Eulex judge Roxana Comsa from Romania.
