Jevtic: Concern about the latest incidents in Kosovo (Blic)
The arrest of armed Islamists in front of the monastery of Visoki Decani and the armed attack on returnees in the village of Berkovo in Klina municipality indicate that the security situation in Kosovo is quite unstable, said Kosovo Minister for Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic, today.
Tensions in recent months in Kosovo have had a negative impact on the security situation, which is currently very worrying, said Jevtic in a statement. "The two incidents that have occurred in a short period of time warn us that it is the right time to raise security measures to avoid the escalation of violence. What is even more dangerous is the spread of Islamic radicalism," he said.
“I think it is the time that returnee areas get better protection, and the attacks on returnee homes are concrete evidence of this. Fortunately, there were no casualties, even though there were people inside the homes at the time of the attacks,” Jevtic said.
