Serbs won’t present their own candidate for president of Kosovo (Politika)

Serbs, most probably, won’t present their own candidate for the president of Kosovo since it is not likely that they would be able to gather a minimum of thirty signatures before the beginning of the provincial parliament session, which should take place by Friday at the latest, learned the paper.

MPs from the Serbian List in the Kosovo parliament, will most probably not vote for the election of Hashim Thaci for president. The chairperson of the Serbian List caucus in the Kosovo parliament Slavko Simic said that he learned from Pristina-based media that the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) are collecting signatures for calling an extraordinary session during which the president of Kosovo would be elected.

“If this trend continues, of our coalition partners doing everything in this manner and in a hurry, it will lead to a situation in which our MPs will not in the session for the election of the president of Kosovo,” said Simic, and added that no one has discussed the presidential election with them, and that the coalition agreement between the Serbian List with PDK and LDK doesn’t refer to the election of the president of Kosovo.
