Rašić: Ombudsman to be from non-majority communities (RTK2)

The Ombudsperson of Kosovo should be from non-majority communities, said MP Nenad Rašić at a meeting of the Assembly.

"While I appreciate the work of the Ombudsman Jashari, I believe that Ombudsperson should be from non-majority communities since it concerns the position and rights of non-majority communities, the weakest links in any society," said Rašić.

During the presentation of the Report of the Ombudsperson for 2015 at the meeting, Hilmi Jashari said that the largest number of complaints related to the work of the courts.

Rašić has suggested the Ombudsman to pay attention to one case, which is already three years in the court, and it concern the Ombudsperson Institution itself, or how Račić has said, the unfair dismissal of former Deputy Ombudsman of the Serbian community Bogoljub Staletović. The then Ombudsman was Sami Kurteshi and Staletović has complained repeatedly about his treatment.

MP from the Bosniak community, Emilija Rexhepi has asked the Ombudsman Jashari that the institution pays more attention to the representation of non-majority communities in public institutions.
