Optical cable cut during airing of TV show with mayoral candidates (KoSSev portal)
According to KoSSev news portal, on October 16, at about 20:45, a TV show, aired by the private cable operator “CD KiM” from Zvečan (Žerovnica village) was interrupted, because the optic cable was cut. At that time, this local TV station was broadcasting a pre-recorded show, in which four mayoral candidates took part: Oliver Ivanović, Dragiša Milović, Dragan Jablanović and Slaviša Biševac.
Owner of the local TV station Dragan Mlađović said that in his view this was a deliberate sabotage that is linked to the ongoing pre-election campaign for the local elections in Kosovo. The case was reported to the Kosovo police who conducted the search and opened the case as the “damage and destruction of a public installation”.
“The announcement for the show was broadcasted the entire day and the show begun at 20:20. Guests were the four candidates for the mayors in four municipalities – Doctor Dragiša Milović, Oliver Ivanović, Dragan Jablanović and Slaviša Bisevać. The program was interrupted at about 20:45” Mlađović told KoSSev.
Dr. Dragiša Milović was also unpleasantly surprised, despite being “used to the pressures in this campaign”.
“We responded to the first round of the questions - all four candidates - the program was soon interrupted - this is another form of violence – now a media violence. It creates an illusion that the truth is unacceptable” he said and reiterated that the candidates and parties are unevenly represented in the media during this campaign.
Milović announced that he and Ivanović would hold a press conference on Tuesday, 17 October at noon.
The owner of the TV station told KoSSev that it would take at least four to five days to install the optical cable, when the elections will be held.
