Arrest of three Serbs is violation of freedom of movement and voters rights (TV Most)
The Serbian Government Office for Kosovo issued a press release yesterday strongly protesting over the legal violence against Saša Aranđelović, Dejan Urošević and Goran Savković, arrested on October 22 at Jarinje administrative crossing point due to alleged suspicion they were transporting explosive materials, TV Most reported.
“After the initial detention of 48 hours, their detention was extended to 30 days, although it is clear to everybody, at a first glance, that this is a matter of planted explosive devices, or rather a diversion aimed at preventing the arrival of internally displaced persons to the polling stations in Kosovo and Metohija,” the press statement said.
“The arrest of three Serbs on a day of local elections in KiM, during transportation of internally displaced persons to the polls, is a violation of the freedom of movement and the violation of the right to vote as well as the right to participate in political life, which represent universal human rights” it was also said.
“This example of the legal violence shows, among other things, why it is important for Serbian judges and prosecutors to assume their functions in Kosovo and Metohija as soon as possible.”
“On this occasion, as well as several other arrests of the citizens of Serbia in the past period under the suspicions and unclear circumstances, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija addressed EULEX, requesting that its judicial bodies take over these cases”.
“This is about the politically and ethnically motivated criminal proceedings against Bogdan Mitrović, Milanka Terzić, Novica Šošić and Momčilo Jančić, as part of a campaign to intimidate the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija,” statement of the Office for Kosovo concluded.
