Head of Croatian diplomacy worried about redrawing borders (Blic, Hina)
Croatian Foreign Minister Marija Pejcinovic-Buric met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on Wednesday. Among other things, she spoke about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and warned against the danger of redrawing the borders, Belgrade daily Blic reports, quoting Croatian news agency Hina.
Pejcinovic-Buric said that she "expressed concern about the exchange of territories, because we think that this is not the principle on which European countries functioned after the Second World War and that it would not be good to make a division on ethnic lines, because any division of such types and the exchange of territories could bring destabilization and replicated to other countries, and in the region and beyond," Croatian news agency Hina reported.
The dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, she stressed, is very important for Croatia and it is important, she said, to come to an agreement "that will not endanger the security of the countries in the region nor have wider implications".
Marija Pejcinovic-Buric is on a two-day visit to the United States, which is the first visit of a Croatian head of diplomacy to the United States after several years of break, Hina reported.
