„UCK“ graffiti appeared on Via Ferrata-Berim (KoSSev)
‘UCK’ graffiti was painted on ‘Via Ferrata-Berim’ on the Mokra Gora Mountain in Zubin Potok. Kosovo police are currently looking into whether there are elements to launch an investigation. The ‘Outdoor In’ organization claims that the graffiti was painted by a group of men who posted about it on social media after climbing the trail without a permit.
Dragisa Mijacic from the Outdoor In organization told KoSSev that graffiti was spotted this weekend during a tour of the climbing trail.
„While visiting the grounds on Sunday morning, Outdoor In noticed ‘UCK’ (KLA – Kosovo Liberation Army) inscriptions written on top of Berim, on a concrete pole and the rocks. The inscriptions were not there on Saturday afternoon when a group of our guides passed by, and the graffiti was spotted on Sunday, when our new group arrived,“ he said.
Mijacic added that the case was reported both to Kosovo police and KFOR members.
He also warned that, in addition to the „violence committed against the mountain,“ numerous irregularities were detected that could have endangered people’s lives.
„The fact is that some people climbed without a permit. They climbed without any equipment and they walked across the bridge with their hands raised, which was dangerous for them and for the people who were under the ‘Via Ferrata’ at that moment. If they had knocked off a rock, people could have gotten hurt,“ Mijacic stressed.
Kosovo Police confirmed for KoSSev that the case had been reported and that they are consulting with the competent prosecutor on the matter.
„Police have received information and are consulting with the prosecutor to determine if there are elements to launch an investigation,“ Besim Hoti from the Kosovo Police said.
