Bulgarian President visits Kosovo (Koha)

Bulgaria's President, Rosen Plevneliev, is visiting Kosovo today. President Plevneliev met with Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, and Kosovo Assembly Speaker, Kadri Veseli. Plevneliev and Jahjaga discussed the cooperation between Kosovo and Bulgaria and Bulgaria’s investments in Kosovo. During the meeting, Jahjaga asked for Bulgaria’s support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration.  Meanwhile, Bulgarian President Plevneliev stressed that Kosovo and Serbia need to normalize their relations. Rosen Plevneliev, is the first Bulgarian President to visit Kosovo.

Constitutional Court gives the “green light” for establishment of special court (Koha)

Kosovo's Constitutional Court today declared as admissible the request of the Kosovo Assembly Speaker, Kadri Veseli, in regards to constitutional amendments (Amendment 24) which would allow the establishment of a special court that will address war crimes allegations.  According to this decision, the proposed Amendment No. 24 does not diminish the rights and freedoms set forth in Chapter II and III of the Constitution. Therefore, the proposed amendment is in accordance with the Constitution.

Assembly Speaker met the new British ambassador to Kosovo (Kosova Press)

The Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, Kadri Veseli, met on Tuesday the new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Ruairi O'Connell. Veseli and O'Connell discussed the latest developments in Kosovo and the cooperation between Kosovo and the UK. According to Veseli, O’Connell expressed satisfaction for the task that has received and commitment to help advance the development processes in Kosovo".

Veseli urges Israel to recognize Kosovo (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, met on Wednesday with Israeli Ambassador to Serbia, Yossef Levy.  Veseli noted that besides cooperation between Kosovo and Israel at different levels, Israeli should recognize Kosovo’s independence as soon as possible. “It is clear that the recognition of Kosovo's independence has no negative effect on Israel's geopolitical interests,” Veseli said.  Ambassador Levy also met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa and the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj.

Good relations with Israel will be furthered with Kosovo recognition (Lajmi)

Kosovo’s Principal Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, met today with the Israeli Ambassador in Belgrade, Yossef Levy, who is visiting Kosovo. Thaci said after the meeting that Kosovo and Israel have many things in common with regards to history, culture and strategic-political orientations. Thaci said he hopes that the good relations between the two countries will be furthered by Israel’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

Kosovo needs France’s support on European integration (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, met on Monday with a group of MPs of the National Assembly of France. The delegation headed by Genevieve Gosselin-Fleury, member of the French National Assembly and Chairman of the Group of Friendship France-Kosovo, also included French Ambassador to Kosovo, Maryse Daviet. The meeting focused on the current relations between the two parliaments: the French National Assembly and the Assembly of Kosovo.

Veseli: Many children are forced to do various jobs (Indeksonline)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, attended a conference organized by UNICEF in Kosovo, where it was discussed the state of children's rights in Kosovo. “Children are the most vulnerable category of society, therefore the real face of a society is exactly in the way it treats its children in day care, family, schools and other social facilities,” Veseli said. Veseli said that Kosovo is building a society that will guarantee more rights for children and a better future.

Veseli travels to Panama to promote Kosovo in Latin America (Lajmi)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli is travelling to Panama today, a country which has recognized Kosovo’s independence in 2009. Many countries in Latin America, under the influence of Spain’s position, have yet to recognize the independence of Kosovo. “Promoting Kosovo in this continent and consolidating relations with countries of the region is one of our biggest challenges in international relations,” Veseli wrote on his Facebook account.

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, in an opinion piece, calls on the Serbian List to return to the Kosovo institutions “and not deny their constituency a basic democratic right: the right for institutional representation”. “If the goal of the Serbian List is to improve the wellbeing of Kosovo Serbs, it can certainly not achieve this by leaving them without representation and by sentencing them to isolation. Isolation never brings good results … Kosovo Serbs, same as all other citizens, need programs of development, and not political myths and legends.
